Navi Mumbai, Maharashtra [India], 19th November 2024: Walplast, a prominent manufacturer of building materials, celebrated Children’s Day with an inspiring initiative aimed at empowering underprivileged girls. In partnership with Project Nanhi Kali and through its CSR arm, Walplast Welfare Foundation, the company organized a special event at their Head Office in Navi Mumbai. Over 100 girls, from grades VI to VIII, were provided with essential resources to further their education and develop key life skills.
The event was a memorable occasion, bringing together Walplast employees, key stakeholders, and community members to create an engaging and uplifting experience for the girls. Activities included storytelling, arts and crafts, an interactive quiz, and a short film screening focused on the importance of education and self-belief. Additionally, the girls were gifted school supply kits, reinforcing Walplast’s commitment to supporting their educational development.
Mr. Ashok Mehta, Chairman of Walplast, shared his thoughts on the event: “Seeing the joy and determination in the eyes of these young girls was truly heartwarming. Witnessing the transformative power of education on these bright minds has strengthened my belief in the power of knowledge. These girls represent the future, and it’s our responsibility to help them grow and support their journey. Every smile, every curious question, and every moment of wonder reaffirm the resilience and strength within them. We are committed not only to providing resources but also to nurturing their confidence and inspiring hope for a brighter future.”
Mr. Kaushal Mehta, Managing Director of Walplast, added, “For us, this initiative goes beyond giving back—it’s about inspiring these young girls to dream big and equipping them with the tools to unlock their potential. Education and life skills training are at the heart of empowerment, and we believe these girls will go on to become leaders and changemakers in their communities. By nurturing critical thinking, communication, and decision-making skills, we hope to instill the confidence they need to tackle challenges and build a better future.”
Mr. Aniruddha Sinha, Senior Vice President – Marketing, CSR, and Business Head of the P2P Division at Walplast, emphasized the significance of the event: “Celebrating Children’s Day with these girls allowed us to connect in a meaningful way, providing support that extends beyond academics. Our program helps build resilience and equips them with life skills that will empower them as they grow. Witnessing their joy and enthusiasm reaffirms our commitment to developing the leaders of tomorrow.”
Walplast’s Children’s Day event in Navi Mumbai follows the success of a similar program in Nashik, where over 160 girls participated in educational and skill-building activities. These efforts reflect the Walplast Welfare Foundation’s ongoing commitment to making a tangible difference in the lives of girls from economically disadvantaged backgrounds.
This year marks the continuation of Walplast Welfare Foundation’s partnership to support the education of 1,000 girls across cities like Navi Mumbai, Nashik, Pune, Varanasi, and Prayagraj. In line with Walplast’s vision for sustainable social impact, the program focuses not only on academic support but also on sports, leadership training, and the development of essential life skills to help these girls succeed in today’s world.
In 2023, Walplast’s initiative helped over 800 girls across districts such as Palghar, Bharuch, and Varanasi, further cementing the foundation’s commitment to social responsibility. The Children’s Day event in Navi Mumbai is another example of Walplast’s continued dedication to fostering positive social change by supporting girls in their pursuit of education and self-reliance.
