For the first time in the country, over 111 officers and employees from the Union Bank of India, Surat Regional Office, including Regional Head Mrs. Shweta Sawa, pledged to organ donation through Donate Life, setting a remarkable example.
The Vigilance Awareness Week-2024 was organized by Union Bank of India’s Surat Regional Office on October 24th and 25th, where Nilesh Mandalewala, founder of Donate Life, was invited as the speaker. He provided detailed information to the attendees about brain death, the types of organs that can be donated, who can donate organs, and the importance of organ donation. Nilesh Mandalewala explained that every year, millions of people in the country lose their lives due to the unavailability of organs on time. He emphasized that the organs of your loved ones are not needed in heaven, but they are crucial for those in need on Earth.
Further, Nilesh Mandalewala shared that Prime Minister Narendra Modi has envisioned making India a developed nation by 2047. He expressed the hope that by 2047, when India celebrates the centenary of its independence, no person in the country will die due to the lack of an organ. This is the mission of Donate Life. He encouraged all officers and employees present to take the pledge for organ donation.
During this seminar, Mrs. Shweta Sawa, Regional Head of Union Bank of India Surat, set an exemplary example by filling out the organ donation pledge form. On the occasion of the 106th Foundation Day of Union Bank of India, over 111 officers and employees took the pledge for organ donation, setting an exemplary standard for the nation. All officers and employees who took the pledge were awarded the organ donation pledge certificate by the Ministry of Health and Family Welfare, Government of India.
Mrs. Shweta Sawa congratulated and acknowledged the commendable work being done by Donate Life in the field of organ donation and extended her best wishes.
